A touch of Animal Magic

It’s would seem a year for anniversaries. Love him or loathe him, he just keeps going. Roberto Cavalli is celebrating 40 years in fashion and it won’t be a quiet affair. Well I never supposed for one minute that it would to be honest. King of the jungle print, zebra stripe, and leopard spot added to which a hefty handful of crystal and the clothes don’t really say quite and demure. They don’t really say anything. They scream it.Roberto Cavalli show Autumn/winter 2010 milan - anniversary year

“To me, every show is like an art exhibition, and in the early stages of my career, I considered myself more like a fashion artist than a designer,” which goes some way to explaining the brand perhaps.

Animal skins and prints are and will be staple for the collection. The sheer harem pants with the fur gilets complimenting each other well and exuding richness that only certain bo-ho chicks can carry. The colours were less punchy than usual but this prints and volume more than compensated. Outwardly seeming a demure occasion, the underlying hints of sexuality showed through. The tightness of trousers and the sheerness of the fabrics meant it was never far away and neither should it be. The brand was built upon it. It is supposed to ooze sex.

We will not be fooled Mr Cavalli, as it is he who proclaims to only.”create dresses for women who are the maximum expression of beauty – and for men who need the beauty of women to complete their lives..” and a tiger stripe or two.
