All things British

It's a big year for Britain;  designers returning to London Fashion Week to show, Diamond Jubilee, and a small sporting event in the East end. One British label has ventured across the pond to show, albeit seasons ago, however has come back to London and hopefully to stay. The previous two seasons the collection has shown in the grand surroundings of the British Library, and being after dark created a beautiful atmosphere with elegant gowns and ethereal silhouettes. Now a fabulous book has been released charting the rise of Alice Temperley.

Amongst the family photographs, collection history and mood boards, the book is a beautiful collection of quotes from clients, models and journalists who are just as enamored as the rows of faces at the shows.

"Alice is always great fun, her world is one you want to linger in" Laura Bailey

"Wearing a Temperley dress is like wearing a dress that you fantasized about in your head, and then suddenly its there, in real life. Those dresses are definitely for special moments or maybe moments become special, when you wear them. They make you feel endlessly pretty." Helena Christensen

As well as telling the story of the label and how it has grown to the strength it is today (dressing the chief bridesmaid for the Royal Wedding reception is not a easy job, but Britishness, merit and of course loyalty from a previous wearer, which I believe Pippa was, I am sure helped the decision) it shows the more intimate moments of the Temperley house, childhood, work and play.

There are not different faces of Alice for parts of her life - they are all as one, she puts a little bit of herself into every piece. A designer who is not going to shy away from any of her own creations. Its more like she is designing for herself but we have the pleasure of being involved, and if you see something you like she will happily let you into her world, only now we have to go to the shop.
