Highland ladies flash a litte leather and lace

Leather, Lace and leaves (well floral) are not a concept easily imagined. It takes some skill to produce theme as strong as this. However Christopher Kane being the darling of the London fashion scene and promoter of forward thinking seemed to pull this one off rather well. Supposed to be based on the early Priscilla Presley and the highland W.I, the results are a dark mix of embellished shift dresses, coats, and kilt like skirts. The forever trend this season of heavy and light, whether it is fabrics – chiffon and cashmere – or the though behind it, light floral delicately embroidered onto the leather dresses here. “Fashion needs brains like his to move things on.” Sarah Mower, Style.com

Get ready to see this look copied copiously on the high street this winter. It will be brave label taking on this one. Looking tacky, gothic-like and as if you should be walking the street of Camden is not an appearance many want but it will be difficult to replicate and miss this danger zone.

For a man who has three Seasonal collections to design (this as well as Versus and Topshop line) this is remarkable for that fact he is pushing boundaries. Perhaps the harder you work the less complacent one becomes in designing the safe pieces that your following know you for and the more one tries to think outside the box to keep things alive and not all that similar. Perhaps this could start to explain the Highland WI and Priscilla premise….perhaps.
