The Burberry ads have moved from the beach to the studio this AW season at Burberry. Mario Testino is behind the camera and the models are not all of the usual suspects from seasons past, but a mix of models, actors and musicians. As the boys walk in Milan this weekend for the following SS12 season, fashion never sleeps, as they say, the new AW11 campaign is released.

Italians show their colours

By this I mean in very different ways. Firstly there is the actual colour, from Gucci. A rich, bright palette of turquoise, green, yellow, purple and orange which screamed "look at me" in a very typical Gucci gal way. The opulence oozed from the fabrics making up the clothes: fox furs, mongolian goat hair, fine chiffons and crocodile skins.

Nymphette

Floating nymph like models gliding almost barefoot down the runway. The beauty of the Ferretti show was following an already emerging theme of tranquil calmness, think Erdem, but add a lot more chiffon and embroidery of these incredible gowns. The prints were there on the material but the fabrics still sheer and light. Knits were added to layer, and few more tailored pieces of trenches and shorts yet still the heaviness was avoided.

And so to the end. Marc on his third and Lee his final bow.

The womanly figure has made a come back this season. Miuccia Prada started the ball rolling in Milan and others have jumped in too. Most recently Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton. The full figured (in modeling terms) ladies were brought in to show off the décolleté to its full effect. The Fifties was the decade of choice here. Mid calf skirts, jackets pulled in tight at the waist as if to emphasize the over spill at the top.
