Fashion Circus arrives in London

Keeping up with the shows whilst you are watching from afar seems to be more difficult for me compared to running between them all here in London. Oh well, forgive me as I go back and forth between. Maria Grachvogel kicked off my LFW, and after seeing some friendly faces in the crowd, Morag from Stylist mag and Angie Smith, we took our seats in the very regal setting of the Lancaster Ballroom in the newly refurbished Savoy.

The dark side of the Brother's Grimm fairytale was the theme, but for me it was all about the Orient. Brush strokes replicated in the hair and heavy lip colours and block eye brows.
Spotted on the catwalk Nina Porter (Burberry SS11) and off to the side, for now,  Yasmin Le Bon in an elegant jumpsuit and Virginia Bates.
The dark blue almost black feathered jewellery worn, all from Erickson Beamon, was following on from  the decorative trends set in NYC show and the Telegraphs' Hilary Alexander. The silks had been printed with inky blues (shown blow) however the stand out pieces, were the billowing skirts cut high on the front hem in parachute silk and black lace.

The orange dresses in swathes of silk twisted down the back and nipped at the shoulder or the nude and black block dresses. The simpler pieces showed off the signature Grachvogel cut and drape beautifully.
Lace was another on trend fabric, mainly in the evening wear section.

So all in all very elegant as was the accompanying classical music,  which soothed those who had flown straight over from NY and eased in those that hadn't - until the inevitable scrum to leave began.
