Kenzo in Print


The box arrived and it was like Christmas all over again. From under the mountain of wrappings emerged a beautiful, heavy, book stuffed full of prints, history and inspiration from the past 40 years at the House of Kenzo. I eagerly delved in to the book, by-passing as I so often do, the writings and explanations of the foundations, straight to the colourful and wonderful images. I have of course gone back to discover the meanings and the growth behind the label from all the contributors, not least Francesco Bonomi, an extremely well established Italian curator, who wrote the forward.

Having gone completely cuckoo for the new Jil Sander SS11 collection already this month, the fashion pack, and most of the UK are waiting eagerly for the new +J collection to hit flagship stores of Uniqlo today. Last week the NY store had a line stretching back, way beyond and in the pouring rain. That is dedication for purchasing, although when you know the clothes are this good, it proves that most people don’t mind the wait, even if it is wet.
