All things British


It’s a big year for Britain; designers returning to London Fashion Week to show, Diamond Jubilee, and a small sporting event in the East end.

One British label has ventured across the pond to show, albeit seasons ago, however has come back to London and hopefully to stay. The previous two seasons the collection has shown in the grand surroundings of the British Library, and being after dark created a beautiful atmosphere with elegant gowns and ethereal silhouettes. Now a fabulous book has been released charting the rise of Alice Temperley.

New kid on the block – well street


The orange and brown flag was blustering about outside, proudly signaling the opening of the store below. It is the new kid on the block; only she is not that new, just a very well kept secret – until now. Tory Burch has finally launched in the UK, helping the expats of the US in London, specifically New Yorkers, feed their Burch habit. For a while now the gold emblem has been sneaking around on the toes of those that know, winking in the sun (when there is any) and causing a niggling feeling that you know the sign but you just cannot place it.

Virtuous


It was Sunday after all. I went to a brunch hosted by the BFC’s Chairman Harold Tiller. In the showrooms at Somerset House where many designers showcase products, the group of Estethica designers were pushed to the front for closer inspection by us all as we worked our way through the rooms learning about sustainable and fair trade product. Laura Bailey made a speech and then hurriedly returned to her stand of jewellery to answer all the questions.
